Batman: Arkham Asylum

Postby Glahardt » Tue Aug 25, 2009 7:14 pm

I haven't really checked any reviews, just know that there are many reviewers that gave it high scores.
Now my new GeForce 275 comes with a copy of the game. What does it say about the game?
No, really. The only time I've heard a reason for a game being given free for a card purchase is because of lousy sales, it's Prince of Persia, the very first one.

It says that Eidos is really trying to spread the word on this game, I'm sure they are making a nice hunk of change on this deal. I haven't played the full game yet but the demo was fantastic.

Was it Eidos who merged with Square-Enix?

Interesting. I suppose this means Tomb Raider will become a Square-Enix title.

On topic, I haven't really been interested in playing this game.

This game is like Bioshock, great story is what makes this game great, they have great casting too I mean Mark Hamill reprising his role as the joker? Fuck yeah, Arleen Sorkin Reprising Harley? FUCK YEAH, and Kevin Conroy reprising Batman? FUCKING HELL YEAH!. Plus there's some other interesting chracters incorporated as well including some you won't see e.g The Riddler who will harrass you along the way.

This is the best game I've played all year, and I'm not exaggerating... I'm well over 6 hours into the game, and I'm only at 50%! Tell me another game of this day and age that can last so long, and still feel fresh and entertaining?

I really like the Riddlers... riddles :D
He takes you to all the dark little corners of Arkham, in search of other super villains like The Penguin, Freeze, Two Face, etc

I'm only two or so in and am already amazed.    I love the foam detonator charges.    I also have noticed none of the typical Unreal Engine 3 issues.

You should tell him then, Jay. Don;t leave him hanging and devoid of good gameplay.
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

I just saw 50%, 6 hours, and "long" and then laughed.

Haha.
Chrono Cross gave me 50 hours, I wanted to complete the new game+ endings, but got lazy. Didn't achieve any of them.
Disgaea... Heh. Forgot how many hours was my first run, but it required grinding so MEH. I'm at 130+ hours right now, though. With characters at maximum level of 213, minimum of 30~40 lol. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M DOING.
Etrian Odyssey, now that's some long shit right there...

If we're talking about action only, Prototype gave me about 20+ hours of game time in one play-through.

you cant compare a RPG with an action game...

and all I'm saying, is that action games that last longer then 6 hours are pretty rare these days (yes Prototype was long, but thats because the game world was 10x as big).

Also, Ivy is hot

I'm only reiterating what Jay essentially said. If that isn't what he meant, then I will justify my statement by saying that I was not comparing rpgs to action games as far as gameplay but comparing them in scope and duration. Also, Kingdom Hearts?

Who cares whether we're talking about RPG's or an action game or whatever the shit.

6 hours for half a game is short, and it will be short no matter what you're playing.

Just cause all other recent American games suck too, doesn't excuse this game from being short.

Length =/= good game. I rather see a well executed game that lasts 10 hours than a game that pads out story and side jobs in an attempt to hit triple digits in the hour count. Especially in an action game that would get very stale if it went more than 20 or so hours.

Dude, screw that. I rather play a game that's only 2 hours long yet be fucking awesome and have an incredible replayability value, rather then have another RPG that last 70 hours that just have pallet-swapped monsters and characters from other games and a crappy love story.

Seriously.

FYI Diablo had plenty of palette swaps, still fun.
