Yeah really, they'll have every single X-Box 360 owner in their store. They'll have non console owners buying it and trying to sell it early on E-Bay. HUUUUUUUUGE profit, and huge problems. Total unfair advantage, unfair to Halo fans that others are getting it out of turn, and horrible for business.

My friend got it at midnight at 7-11 and has already beaten it. He said it took him about 5 hours

You aren't accounting for stock Len... the only way a comany could make a killing would be to charge extra for an early release.

It's the store that releases it early that potentially makes profit, not the game developer. The developer wants to treat it's consumers fair and equally, and stuff like this can botch that up greatly. But yeah, it doesn't really hurt anyone in the long run, but it still annoying and total BS.

That's what I'm saying, the stores that released early would have to have either, an absurdly massive stock or charge extra, other wise they wouldn't make anymore than they would if they released on time.

You make it sound as though they gave it only to the people that asked for it early. The people who got it early were more than likely these 'regulars' you speak of (and maybe some of their friends). Now half their regulars already have copies so all they'll get on release is the other half of their regulars.
