I like the anime and the animation.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. They seem to be getting pretty good at dubbing whatever's popular. And a lot of the stuff that isn't popular too.

I was pretty surprised to hear Deadman Wonderland had been dubbed, for instance.

You can say it's emotional all you want, but it's still one emotion most of the time. The trauma of dilemma between fight and die or run and watch your friends die. Rather than the emotions, which are cool even if a little repetitive, I watch it to see what or who is behind the titans, and what is in that basement.

Whatever's in that goddamn basement, it better be good.

Seen the episode now. Since the last few episodes were a bit of a slog, I was wondering if the appeal of the show had waned for me, but this episode handily confirms it hasn't. Lots of action, lots of melodrama, fucking awesome. How those full-on 3D manevour gear scenes don't break their budget I don't get. Also pleasantly surprised    the show keeps delivering on it's promise of being damn fatal. Until now, it's been mostly nameless people that's been killed off but this time it was four people the show have spent some five episodes characterising. Ballsy.

It's always been hard for me to get into a show/anime/manga/etc. where they kill off people left and right, but gosh darn it this is the second thing this summer that's pulled me in despite that. I wonder how the survey corps is structured. How many reserves are back at home, if any? Is it the entirety of the survey corps that goes out? By losing    their whole right flank, does that mean the survey corps lost 1/3rd of their entire corps in one mission?    That'd be just... damn.

Having a    traitor didn't help those losses, normally more than 1/3 loss on recon corps is expected on every complete venture. Though on this mission, they purposefully held back info so that they could capture the 'female titan'. It obviously costed lives, but Irvin was right to assume the info gained would outweigh any loss.

Btw, Eren paused on that scene at the tree, because    he realized once her arms healed, the fighting stance she was using was unique to someone who kicked his ass before.

Huh, that's pretty nice. Once you get over the first hurdle, the controls are actually pretty good. Plus, listening to the anime soundtrack meanwhile makes it 50 % more fun. Record of 8 titans in one game.

There aren't a lot of females that have totally owned his ass physically, so it's not too hard to guess.    It's a pretty easy hint.

Also... there was something odd in the latest episode...    I saw steam come from Mikasa's head when before her head was covered in blood... and then after the steam her face was clean. Um. What's that about?

I guess the blood evaporated. It's supposed to be hot. Of course, it should still leave residue, so we'll just have to leave it up to sloppy animating.

And I can't remember anyone doing that to Eren, I did figure there was only one candidate. Guess I have to rewatch some episodes.

If I'm thinking of the right one, isn't that girl with like the Military Police now? ZZ Annie was quite good at fighting, and mysterious as well.    She was one of the guesses that went through my head once I first heard that the titan was "piloted" by a human.

M'yes, she was my guess as well, based on looks alone. Plus, there's something foreshadowing about the way she appears in the OP.

I can only kill 7 before I'm swarmed and grabbed, and that's only against the dumb slow ones.

Always keep moving. I never kill more than one in one place, before retreating to something like the other end of the map. They do tend to cluster up on you the more you are in one place, but they're not fast to follow. I die most from impatience, from trying to kill one Titan too hard, getting stuck on his body or getting killed by his friends, instead of retreating and finding another target.
