Then we skinned and ate Dave, as the tradition commands.

True story.

I was there. It was a marvelous occasion.

Then we ripped off his arm and shoved it up our asses, as, of course, is tradition.

Can I have one?
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

I thought it would be done with more fanfare than that or at least a victory announcent but okay, cool.

I was thinking of posting this too, but I thought no one would laugh at a South Park joke.

this is a joke from a pretty poor episode of south park

but south park in general is one of the finest comedies ever. it's got the ability to be topical which gives it an edge over every other cartoon, and the writers are clearly intelligent people who treat appropriate topics with the appropriate level of cynicism and - if necessary - vitriol. it's basically trey parker's vehicle for his thoughts and depending on the subject matter and the significance that parker gives the subject matter really changes the quality of the episode

in other words: the more south park hate something, the better the episode about it will be.

south park hit it's stride around the season 6 mark, and remained very strong until just a couple of years ago. it's had a great run and though fatigue and the insane work schedule they deal with means that there's been a drop in quality: south park is still much better now than a lot of tv. current south park > current simpsons, though that isn't hard.

classic simpsons > the best of south park
