Seems like they're just going with the gimmick of adding multiplayer, as a lot of companies do. If they can do it right, then that's awesome, if not, then, well, that blows.
I respect a company that doesn't add multiplayer just to get people excited, I mean, Bioshock Infinite was going to have multiplayer, but instead they said that they wanted to focus more on the single player story and experience, which is good in my opinion.
I just dislike games that go "O well, people enjoy multiplayer, so let's add one that probably won't be any good but people will want it." Seems just gimmicky to me, like adding 3D to a movie that wasn't made for it.
