Okay, so let's remake the poll again, since we've wiped out the results already.

I'll be making the name choices. I will not be including Spam as the original name unless as included in a new way of inferring that spam is allowed, but with the additional purpose of being a forum with relatively relaxed rules.

if anyone wants to suggest things for the poll, do so, but I'll be compiling the poll, since we need to consolidate again I GUESS.

I don't mind the red tape part of the forums' changing, because I'm very good at red tape. So clog away at suggestions. I've made quite a few, but will only pick the serious ones I think will be useful.

Mind you, I'm still set on a rotating Spam Title, but seeing as everyone is flipping their shit over this, what I am going to do with the set of suggestions from and of you and or my personal choices, I'll make it be a rotating SUBTITLE.

I actually thought of that but didn't say anything since you were so set on rotating the name

Mordor?
Orgrimmar?
Twin Peaks?

I'm fond of my current applicator, because of the rhyme, but because it is meant to be explosive (what with the !), it makes it hard to let a subtitle through, so I am trying to come up with a rhyming phrase that allows for a subtitle more easily, or... subtly, if you like.

Orgrimmar ftw hahahaha

Trollgrimmar, Spamotar, Bare Ends Shat, these are all subtitly lol.

I'm looking for something cohesive, slightly funny but more endearing, keeping true to the thematics of "spam" to convey our lackadaisical approach to posts. It's a tough task to come up with just the right word at the right time :o

but keep tossing ideas around guys, creative process is exploration, a basic function of how we think. Try to connect seemingly unrelated ideas and see if there is a connection. I am very passionate about how creativity can just happen if you let your mind wander.

The Land Down Under. If you know what I mean.

I still like Spam. Idk why it needs to chance, but that's just me.

Because of its connotations to a newer individual.

We must combine the familiarity with something inviting but also foreboding; intriguing.

Snafu's Basement, though? I can't come up with a better name, but I would never venture to someplace like that. But that's just me

bolding, italicing, and underling because people like to make it like I'm speaking for everyone.

Gangsta's Paradise? The lyrics of Coolio's song describe the sophistication of the forum perfectly, but it can be tweaked a bit.

Also, I once consider Faux Pas 9 or something like that because Faux Pas according to thesaurus is a synonym to Snafu. 9 derives from Cloud 9 which is a two word synonym to Paradise. Much of my inspiration for the names come from the song.

Also, this also popped in my head while I was doing this:
WE'VE SPENT 10 YEARS OF OUR LIVES
LIVING IN A SNAFU PARADISE

I felt that way toward some of the long time members here.

Well, I tried. It was worth it though. I feel like we should take what we can get for now but try to stay away from anything that may make the forum sound bad however. Anyone else?

I agree that Snafu's Basement sucks as a name for the forum.

How about the attic? I am half-joking - it could be seen as interesting.

Architectural metaphors are great for this sort of thing. Maybe like. The Snafu Space Needle: You Won't Get Pricked If You Aren't.

I don't blame you; you have nothing for which to apologize; there was no mistake made by anyone in thinking about that name. You did nothing wrong. Believe that, please.

My reasoning for my words is thus: to be a basement is just too thematically synonymous with the concept of Spam, which was a ration food that became known as cheap to acquire in bulk, to the point of people having too much of it all the time. So they began to dislike it and some anonymous person made the connection to the bulk of bad e-mails or posts they received online in the 90s, when the term was adopted.

I don't mind the slight indication of apprehension, because that is a part of what makes the forum good: the threat of argument that is not merely permitted, but often actively sought. That's why I am trying to think about Spam in a way that allows for the familiarity, but with a spin on it that lets it be more inviting while still maintaining its atmosphere of relaxed discord.

It's an interesting linguistic challenge to me, having seen so many people offer so many ideas about it.
