Pocky Pocky Pocky

Postby Hiroko » Fri Sep 05, 2014 6:25 pm

Several days ago a friend of mine gave me their box of matcha (green tea) pocky.

Matcha pocky is yum, but I dunno where to go that's nearby to buy some for myself. Like, I know most stores will probably sell the traditional three flavors of strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate pocky off in some corner or whatever, but I've never seen stores sell other flavors outside of that, so I guess that means I have to go to an Asian supermarket/grocery store or specialty store and all. The only one I know of is the one my friend told me about, which is apparently 30 minutes away by car (and apparently a 5-hour walk on foot, if Google Maps is to be believed), and like...I can't...exactly...just ask my dad to take me to some random far-off store he's never heard of or even been to for a random little box of Asian treats.

I really want more, though. They weren't kidding about how good the matcha flavor is.

Are busses not a thing or…?
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

Tuor, there's a lot of places where the bus system just kinda sucks in the US.

I assume Hiroko suffers from that.

But I thought she lived in a big city

I don't know where she lives.

I can't say anything, I guess.

But I've come to understand, going off topic, that Canada has an awesome mass transit system.

Even in some major cities the mass transit sucks because of urban sprawl. It gets worse in the US the further west you get.

@Orangebee: I'm not sure if I could really describe it, but it has like a mild sweet and creamy taste, with some bitterness from the green tea flavor itself, but the bitter sorta blends with the sweet instead of overpowering it. It makes for an interesting taste, and I really like it.

@Tuor: Buses are a problem for me. : x Particularly in this case because it seems like I would need to take multiple buses just to get there, and it seems the average bus trip itself would be around 2 hours??? O_o So...yeah.;;;

Weird, that's some crappy transit if it would take 30 minutes to drive there but 2 hours to bus there. I'm sorry.

Oh, wait, that's it?

My regular commute is a two hour bus ride to college, hour walk to my job 1, half an hour walk to my job 2, and an hour bus ride to my job 3, followed by an hour bus ride home.

Hiroko.

I think this pocky thing isn't worth your time, but at the same time, learn to use the time you have on buses to meditate, listen to music, etc.

It's what I have to do.

To keep my sanity.

From all the people and time on the bus.

Trying to take it.

Hrm.

No just get good.

You have to find meaning and drive Hiroko.

Or you'll lose humanity.

And go hollow.

My friend's the same way, funny enough. They've mentioned before how they loved matcha anything but didn't really like plain green tea that much.
