Here's my plan for becoming a published author:1- finish a book
2- edit the book 20 times
3- write my manuscript and query letter
4- have trusted academic minds edit it all
5- pay a professional editor to edit it all (maybe two)
6- do extensive research to find the best agent and pay rates
7- write them a synopsis if they want it
8- edit the book based off agent's suggestions (if I feel the suggestions would help)
9- work with agent to get book signed by a publishing company
10- DON'T GIVE UP! It can take a long time, around 1-3 years...
I have a LONG ways to go... but I'm proud of myself for finishing step one because that can often be one of the hardest steps. I do have a few publishing companies in mind that I think my book would fit well with, but that's a long ways away. For now I just need to focus on step two
Here's the smallest summary I can think of: Caverly is a shy high school student that goes to live with her grandmother for the summer. She falls through a mirror and finds herself in another world that has magic. Things get a little complicated as she tries to find her way back home, and she stumbles into the start of a war.
