Yes you can ... It only protects against those who are not trusted yet because the G.W.B article was always being edited in the past ... I can edit this article.

Even though there are bots there, it doesn't give you the right to edit an article because the bots are going to change it back anyway ... these bots can only detect obvious changes and they are only checking some of the articles ... not all.

But if you want to experiment with wikipedia ... use the Wikipedia Sandbox instead of some article.
