@ari
My main issue with Near and Mello was how flat their characters were. I was literally able to guess out everything that would happen after the their introduction. Ofc, I was hoping I was wrong because predictability in a series like Death Note would suck. The ending with Mikami and the whole Note trick could be seen since his introduction. It just became so frustrating seeing how predictable it all got.

As for the female characters, I agree. All of them were weak and easily manipulated. I was really hoping Naomi would have a bigger role, but she could've literally never been in the story, and it'd all be the same. Since they kept bringing her up, I was hoping that meant she somehow fell into a loophole, but nope. It was irritating seeing her being brought up alongside Raye as a detail just because.
I was also hoping to see Misa slowly become more manipulative, stubborn and controlling, but her character also fell flat.

Each character lost their touch, and all the new characters introduced after that point made the series a chore to read.

And it doesn't stop there. I would definitely recommend Bakuman, the duo's following work. It is a story about two guys who try to become published manga authors. It is really interesting and when you look closely, it is apparent that the two main characters are based and the writer and the artist respectively. That being said, all of the female characters had no impact at all and were only defined by their relationship with the male characters. But overall it is definitely a cool read. I really like the way that the characters "fight" through their manga and even a form of pseudo power levels is established which I thought was really clever.

As for DBZ villains: I agree. It is super convenient how the bad guys always show up in order of power. But the reasons in place made it at least pretty believable. And the obvious answer would be that the writer had no need of a stronger enemy until the hero had defeated the current enemy.

Speaking of DBZ. There is a new PS4 DBZ game showing up at E3. I know they aren't exactly good, but a guy can hope.

Edit: I was right.

Let's hope it plays like a more refined DBZ Raging Blast instead of that awful DBZ Battle of Z.

I haven't. I prefer to wait until it's all aired. Do you have any recommendations?

No. I have no idea what's even out there. I just wanted to start this place up again... Figured tomorrow others would jump at the chance to tell us.

Tony, what happened to your 666? So are you not evil any more?

As for the new season, I will do what I always do. Keep an eye on what is going and if there is anything of interest, wait for the season to end, then marathon the thing. The only down side to this plan is when assholes spoil stuff for me. Like Madoka. Gosh darn it!

Well, I'm watching more anime. Recently finished watching Kill la Kill and I give it a 8/10. Liked it.

Got rid of it. It looked retarded. The only reason I had it in the first place was because waaaaaaaaaaaay back when, I made an account before this one with the same name. But I forgot the password. So in my infinite wisdom I stuck 666 at the end of a new one. Because you know it was all cool and shit... fuck young me. I'd punch the asshole if I could.

I used to do that. Not sure what happened. I guess I'm more selective with my time now.

Fuck, Akame ga Kill! and Tokyo Ghoul are getting anime adaptations? That's awesome.

Two of my favorite manga.

I'd keep my eye on those two, Aldnoah.Zero, Hanamonogatari, P4 Golden, and the new Sailor Moon, because I have a soft spot for the old one.

And, out of sheer fucking curiosity and a penchant for masochism, the new Sword Art season.

So Yog. I watched that Kaiba anime though to the end. I've got to say. I'm not really feeling it. I mean I like the art and all that, but the actual show just doesn't click. Maybe I'll give it a rewatch to see if it's just me or I missed something because I really do want to like it.

Well, different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Again, I consider it a masterpiece.

You want to talk about the story? I can straighten some stuff out for you, if you're confused.

Synopsis - The story revolves around Shōko Nishimiya, a middle school student who has impaired hearing. She transfers into a new school, where she is bullied by her classmates. Ishida Shouya, one of the bullies, goes to the point that she transfers to another school. As a result, he is ostracized and bullied himself, with no friends to speak of and no plans for the future. Years later, he sets himself on a path to redemption.

The shit just hit the fan with the recent chapter, man.

This manga is brilliant. It truly is.

Got the synopsis from Baka-Updates Manga.

Oh. One of these types huh. I really like the sound of it. I love ones that put characters in real empathetic positions. You know that isn't the typical murdered family member crap

I'll give it a look. I've just come off Katawa Shoujo, so I'm kinda still in the mind set for something that could pull at my flinty heart strings.

Jesus man.

I've been bawling out my eyes out some of the chapters, and some of them have just punched me in the heart repeatedly.

And it's not all terrible bs. It's not pulled out of nowhere.

It all fits. And it's all amazing.

I think I have the perfect anime for you. I donno. I'll have to give this manga a look first. But the anime I want to recommend was one of 3 things to actually make me (as an adult in an adult mind) cry. The other two being both Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4. But come on it's Metal Gear Solid so...

Wait, it actually became a series???

I remembering reading it back when it was just a one-shot manga. Very powerful just from the one-shot alone.

Yes, it was serialized.

And it's so good.

The first few chapters retell the one shot in more detail, though. So I suggest you read them and not ignore them as some people do.

I've seen the scans for the next chap.

I'm not saying anything.

But anyway, what do you think of the manga?
