Ya, gawd, Garcia was terrible.

Honestly, I got tired of Rock too. At points he was a bit too goody goody and stupid about it, but overall, I agree he was a pretty bearable male anime protagonist.

In my opinion it is a lot harder for a male character to be memorable or even likable as opposed to female characters but I am not sure why that is.

My all time favourite male character is Lulouch and my favourite female is Homura. I would love to hear other people's favorites.

I haven't watched enough anime/read enough manga to offer anyone up, but I'm interested to see who people bring up.

Luffy. My nigga.
Memorable males...
Maybe it's the lack of plot.

I wouldn't necessarily say that they are my favorites, but they are pretty memorable to me.

From the top of my head, the most memorable male character would probably be Mutta Nanba (Uchuu Kyoudai). The most memorable female character would probably be Chihaya Ayase(Chihayafuru), with Risa Koizumi(Lovely Complex) coming second.

Or maybe double standard sexism has somehow made it's way into anime without anyone noticing! In the anime world it is actually harder for male characters to get jobs. Wait, what? In Railgun My favourite characters are Kuroko and Mikoto but I also like the other female characters. But on the other hand the only truly memorable male character from this series in my opinion is Accelerator. And he is a prick!. And that is because of the impact volume 4 had on me when I read it.

Re: The Anime Thread.

So true. Accelerator's got my top 5 badasses.

I have only read Railgun but I am ahwere that Accelerator becomes a good guy. How does this happen? Is it done well and is believable or is it a total 180. he better get some good character development if I am going to forget about the mass murder. At the moment I hate him but I kind of think he is cool at the same time. I am looking forward to his own manga.Plus I saw a really great speech by him.

"This is not a negotiation, a suggestion, a deal, an entreaty, an agreement, a compromise, or a capitulation. THIS IS MY VICTORY MARCH, YOU FUCKS!."

Some minor spoilers

I think it was fine, it seemed believable to me. His back story was pretty good imo. As for the mass murder, that's open to interpretation, some don't consider the clones as real lives.

I heard there was supposed to be a movie, haven't been keeping up recently. Got to check tomorrow. :p

I think lately Tokomo from WataMote has become my most memorable female character for me... God, it's as hard to watch as Attack on Titan sometimes. Before it was Perona from One Piece for some of her antics.

As for a male character, I'd say Rurouni Kenshin's Kenshin Himura has always been my favorite as long as I can remember.

Perona :D
Horororororororo

That reminds me of Holo, from Spice & Wolf.

Re: The Anime Thread.

Ooh Holo is another memorable character for me (even though I technically forgot her earlier :p). Spice & Wolf and Honey & Clover are what I'd consider to be pretty memorable anime.

I really like Edward Elric from FMA. Truly a memorable character.

When it comes to female protagonists It's a bit harder choosing since there's a much bigger selection. I did like Gretel from Black Lagoon, but that unsure air surrounding her gender. I hop she is actually female or I could never look at my figure of her the same way again. (God that sounds sad)

But still I'd have to say one of my absolutely favorite characters has to be Reiko from Reiko the Zombie Shop or Franking Fran.

I think Lawrence is pretty memorable, but Holo is so much more entertaining.
On FMA, memorable males.

Holo is a fun character. I prefer the style in the manga as the anime makes Lawrence look anorexic and generic.

Armstrong is the same voice as Vegeta.

YO, COME GIVE ME HUG
I also hated the voices, made him sound like a pussy.

I believe Monkey D luffy's memorable for his bizarre and abnormally optimistic personality.

Or his dick for always using rubber doing w/e the fuck he wants.
I mainly love him because his reactions become predictable at some point, but it never disappoints.

The dick things was a reference to the show.

I love Goku from Dragon Ball Z. But that was (like nearly 90% for the Western world) my first anime.

Fuck Goku :3
Majin Boo all day!

Re: The Anime Thread.

Screw Boo! Then one thing worth remembering from that show was Cell! I mean I remember all of it but he was one of the characters I actually liked.

Re: The Anime Thread.

Fuck Cell.
Mr.Satan, greatest hero in the Universe.
