New EverAfter Page: 04-29-08

Postby Imenak » Tue Apr 29, 2008 9:54 pm

As announced by Endling in his Artbook thread, the new EA page is up. Rejoice in all the adorability, and the nagging suspicion something will go tragically wrong!

Awesome page. Goldi and Pinnochio make a nice couple. =] Definitely see some foreshadowing going on there too.

I can't understand what about Endlings style is so great.
Its clean yet messy, colorless yet vibrant. I've stared at pages trying to figure it out, to give me ideas. I can't wrap my head around it though.
It really is the gold-standard of unique in the art world.

It depends on taste, I guess.

Goldi is such a ditz. Haha. So nice. Makes me forget how mentally disturbed she really is.

Hey. Just noticed that Goldi's face scars are gone.

Actually, Gold's scars on her whole body seems to be gone.

It's painting. Not a lot of manga-styled graphic novels are painted as Endling's. I've seen a lot of these in SDL.

Artist's intuition tells me that End just loves drawing odd shapes and figures, which is reflected in the whimsiness of his character designs. I noticed that while browsing his DA gallery. :P

..O 3o? Are they too light? I can see her scars just fine on my monitor, and these monitors at work too.

Hum. Maybe I'll have to start making them darker or somesuch.

Though if you're looking for them in any other areas than her face you're on a wild goose chase. X3 The only two (that are readily visible, anyway) are those on her cheek and across her left eye.

The bright LCD monitors have taken another victim.

Added after 55 seconds:

And I can see them now that you mention it.

Methinks people didn't see them because they weren't 'hard lined' with pencil like I did before, they were gray lined directly in Photoshop. _ 3_

Yeah, they're both visible to me too, and I have a bright monitor. The one across her left eye is harder to discern than the one on her cheek, though.

I can see all of them. Goldi's so cute ^_^ But I wonder. Since she has those bangs and then she has all that hair over her ears....How would Goldi look like in neko-mimi mode? I mean, you wouldn't be able to distinguish the hair and the ears XD Savvy?

PS: I'm performing as Pinnochio on a school play XD one which envolves fairy tale characters going to school and the witch is their teacher and stuff...Crazy stuff...We lock the principal in a wardrobe! XD We suck...sorry for off-topic.

PPS: What I think makes Ends art awesome is the fact that he can make scary things adorable and amusing. For instance, if we saw a zombie teddybear in real life we would jump out of our feet in a matter of seconds. If it were a teddy bear drawn by End, it would be cute and adorable, even if it was ripping someone apart.
Also, he makes pretty eyes *trying to mimic them but ended up drawing Picasso-like eyes* Eheheh....

And vice-versa, too. Manipulating reader perception is a standard in the manga industry. :P

But I really think that End has an affinity with figures and shapes that defy nature. Even the most cartooniest of his designs can come to life.

The scars are difficult to see due to the fact that they're more subtle on this page, it seems.
Too good for you.

Could depend on your resolution.

I can see them, but I've noticed they're less pronounced.

Can't be very good for his health, climbing in vents like that.
And ergh. It's getting harder and harder to think of Goldi as mentally disturbed every page. She just gets cuter and cuter! D:
Last panel is loove <3

I was sure her scars in the last panel were gone....either I'm going a little blind, or Endling just drew them on....but I'm not going to accuse Endling of anything, so I guess I was just going blind.

Nah, they're there if you look close enough. He may have drawn them a little lighter than normal but I can see em still. =]

Yeah, I know, but I was sure that when this page was put up, the scars weren't there...meh. Well, they're there now, and that's what matters.

Well, I just reread the comics up to this point, so I think I have a vague idea of what Goldi can do....but I won't say it for fear of being embarrassed by my absolute wrongness.
