This page is screaming "DREAM!!". Those are the asylum cuffs, you can see them in the prolouge, but these seem to be much thicker.

She looks far too surprised for her to be waking up from a dream. They might be the asylum cuffs, but she's certainly still in the past. The text heavy comic that looked llike a book said that the asylum kidnapped people coming in contact with the wolf so that word diddn't get out that he went rogue. The way I see it, this is Red's first time in the asylum.

yeah, red is VERY badass, no chains are going to hold the present red for long in other news, i now have a freaky looking (but fake) chainsaw, and a very real looking (but still fake) katana. my red riding hood outfit is now complete!

I'm still sure that this isn't a dream, it most likely can be but I think it isn't ... don't ask why...

Check Endling´s deviant art entry where he shows the different possible starts of the comic. Now link the one where red starts screaming (as in waking up from a nightmare) and the pages that were shown in the interview.

Dont you think red is having a nightmare that mixes both her encounter with the wolf and her experinece in the asssylum. Why would she be sleeping? Why because of Mr. Boot´s well-placed kick to her head in the prolouge. Why is it so freaky? Its a dream, if it where really happening then how the hell did those hadcufs apeared from nowhere?

It may be her waking up from being knocked unconcious by puss in boots but I doubt it. Endling already said the wolf WORKS for the asylum until it went out of control. So this may be the wolf capturing Red for the first time and a flash back/dream if you will.

Mmm... I'm with Mr. Mono on this one, personally. I think the BBW would be more the type to carry someone off in his mouth (or stomach--munch) than use manacles. And the manacles themselves showed up mysteriously enough to startle Red--in a wtf way, not an 'oh no, I'm captured' sotra way. At least, that's how her facial expression reads to me. But I don't claim to be an expert (need to finish my major first ).

I personally think she'll be waking up in the asylum within a few pages, after taking the first chapter, the filler/junk pages and the dreamlike feel of the last few pages into account.

I've had dreams that had this feel to them. It's rather unnerving, actually.

yeah when she stutters the word "what?" her expressions more of a person who is scared and confused by what is going on.

In other words, Red=WTF IS GOING ON OMGWTFZOR!?

I say it is a dream. The wolf taunts Red by talking about eating her, as far as we know Everafter imprisons everyone who comes into contact with the wolf so presumably, Red would have been detained after being eatin, without seeing the wolf again. It is flashback-ish as the dream seemingly starts as a remeberance of Red's fateful visit to her grandmothers, before transforming into a nightmere mixed with memories of the asylum, ie. the manacles.
