I dunno how many of you read Mac Hall so I'm gonna post a link from his site today.

http://mail.ntust.edu.tw/~B8910010/3d-anime/poly-h.html

As far as I can tell its someone's progress on a project to basically create anime cel animation through a 3d generator.

http://140.114.32.3/usr2/ming-yuan/chua ... ving-i.mov

Thats a link to a video test of the girl simply waving her hand around. They also have dynamic clothing and such (meaning they don't have to adjust the clothing..it adjusts itself). I am so impressed it hurts.

Meh, one time I took a camcorder and videotaped a popcan falling over. That was pretty amazing, too.

One time I hooked a camcorder to my tv and then video taped my TV. It was the absolute craziest thing ever. Like bazillions of TVs displaying TVs

Comrade: uhm... I don't think they copied Alex. I mean...its a pretty general thing to do cel animation in a 3d program. But thats REALLY good stuff. The guy looks like he's been working on it for a long time as well (he has some older looking sketches of the girl)

Dave: Friday in a news post from Tycho.

Ah man I hate when that happens. They need a "Tone of voice" simulator for message boards.

The only thing it looks like he as on me, (besides modeling abilites) is the cloth sim. I have yet to get LW's cloth sim to work right.

Because for some as-yet unknown reason, nearly everyone on the internet seems to be painful single and horny.

If only they dedicated as much effort to improving their social skills as they do their artistic ones...

The one of her waving her hand was pre-cloth rendering program. I think I only saw one or two naked models after they really finished up the clothing system. Also Alex: His lighting and shading and damn...well...everything about his videos is so soft and aerial (basically meaning stuff blurs when its further in the background) is amazing. If he just moved the model and didn't rotate around her I'd probably just think it was a cel animation. Only reason I can tell when he rotates is no animator can draw 3d people that correctly by hand.

I think shes naked only because the did have this cloth system in mind, so when they first started doing stuff with the model, no cloths, since that model with cloths just painted on would look funny. But who knows, they are probly single and horny, or even NOTsingle and horny, but meh.

And Alex, I think its more of a style preference than a "better than you". Yours looks more coputery, shiney, and 3d, while this stuff looks alot more drawn or 2d.

Hey man...all drawing stems from the circle and the triangle. If you can draw a circle and a triangle you're well on your way to sketching, which means you're on your way to finalizing and coloring. Trust me...I've seen people who couldn't even draw a circle...hell I can't draw a very good one.

If you mean hand-drawn Anime, yes. There's no way that I know of (outside of Maya) to do a hand-drawn Manga in 3D.

Your stuff looks good, but I can't really tell what makes it look 3d. Maybe its the colors you use, or the way you highlight, or the way your outlines look. I don't know, but your stuff kick the shiznitty anyway.
