THE CURRY OF LIFE CURED A PARAPLEGIC?!

It's getting ridiculous now.

Still, otherwise a pretty good episode! The animation was excellent, it was very funny, the fight's were cool, and, Drunk Lee! Yay!

Damn I totally read this thread on habit not realising I haven't seen the episode yet. But yeah I knew that curry thing was coming Vis and that SUCKS. I hate the curry dumbness. Sooooo fucking lame. Next arc better be Neji and Rock Lee fighting non stop for 26 episodes or I'll be pissed.

I didn't like this episode. They tried to be far too funny, and it ended up being ridiculous. And I don't agree that the Animation was excellent, in fact many scenes were rather cartoonish and sloppy, which doesn't belong anywhere near Naruto. Though I do agree that the scenes when Naruto punched Raiga were greatly Animated.

Then there's the whole Raiga and Ranmaru thing. Ranmaru convinces Karashi to take him to Raiga, and then revives him using his energy. He apperently dies only to get revived by curry. He says he wants to save Raiga by giving him curry and changing his attitude, but instead the very first second he notices him, he pretends that he works together with him, trying to commit(sp?) group suicide. Then, after being stopped by Lee he once again changes his mind trying to convince Raiga to eat the curry, since it is obviously a placebo for everything, including twisted criminal minds. Then, Raiga who one episode ago became outraged after he discovered Ranmaru's "death", tries to kill Ranmaru giving stupid reasons, and after he is being beaten by Naruto(why didn't he use the lightning armor, like in the fight against Lee is beyond me) he commits(once again sp?) suicide without Ranmaru even saying much. HOW DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE?

Not to mention two great characters were pretty much only used as a comic relief, Neji did a shit and Lee got his ass kicked. This would be acceptable if Raiga at least were the cool Enel-style villain he was at first, and not the total idiot he became in the end. "After I kill those guys, let's go have some fun doing bad things!" Worst fuckin line in Naruto EVER.

How anti-climactic. That was a rushed script if I ever saw one. And what really bothers me is that instead of taking the prodigy Ranmaru back for super ninja training, they have him live in a shack to make slop. Of course, doing otherwise would break canon.

As far as I see it. They already broke the canon, by making Raiga one of the 7 Shinobi Lords.

Yeah Kami, it bugged me too, but I just let it all slide over me because, basically, I just don't care about Raiga or Ranmaru.

It's the 7 Shinobi Swordsmen, not lords. I don't see how making something like that up will affect the main story at all. They were just trying to find some reason for Naruto to go with them, and he wants more information about Sasuke.

Nope, instead we're getting the wacky and fun adventures of the Konohamaru Corps! I can't wait!

Yeah that episode sucked on several levels. Not as bad as last weeks and it had glimers of being cool several times in this arc they just fucked it up big time. Oh well.

In some Manga scanlations they are being called lords. But yeah, it's true Swordsmen is the more correct and common translation.

I can't get over how much I hate that curry.

I mean, not only does it do stupid things, but it turns awesome characters like Neji into useless comic relief.

The fact that the damn curry alone kept Neji out of the whole fucking battle should be reason enough alone never to make any more of it.

Next episode doesn't look very good either. I don't like Konohamaru, so if he's the focus then... for once, I might not even bother watching.

I think the idea behind this story arch was originally good:
funeral crazed x-member of the seven shinobi swordsman takes over a village; several members escape and request help; naruto sees an oppertunity to learn more from a member of the Ataksuki (sp), and joins team Gai.
It had all of the ingredients for a reasonably good filler.
There was just a lot of material that was either reused to death, or plot-hole filled. The cure-all curry is obvious enough, as well as the complete uselessness of Lee and Neji. Also, Ramaru was made out to have this unheard of 'natural enemy' of the Byukagan (super sp?), which played almost no importance. What bugged me the most, however, was the reuse of the "abandoned-but-powerful-child-is-taken-in-by-lone-evil-man-who-uses-them-as-a-tool-while-they-develop-strong-bonds-despite-realising-they're-harming-others" bit. In the earlier stages of Naruto, this relationship between Zabuza and Haku was unique, well presented, and it made way for the development of Naruto's character. It was reused with Kimimaro, and expanded slightly in the anime, but was still acceptable. But this third example seems to prove they're struggling for new material.
I do compliment them for trying to make Ten-ten good for something though.
(my first post, sorry for the rant)

Actually, this was a great first post, Afternoon. You stated your opinion in a very fine way, nothing to be sorry about. Welcome to the forums.

Afternoon, good... yeah. If I try THAT one, I'll get RP shot for it.

Suffice it to say, awesome introduction. Welcome to Snafu. If you can remember to make paragraphs, that's pretty much all you need to change.

On-topic: this anime series sounds increasingly bizarre... and bad. It WAS good at one point, right?

Right?

It was awesome, it's just been diverging from the canon plot (manga plot) for several months now. I suppose that's in the interest of letting the manga get way far ahead, but this filler is just terrible.

Naruto IS awesome, Steven. It's just that fillers can ruin pretty much every Shounen Anime I've seen so far.

Wow, the whole town's riding in on the welcome wagon.

Thanks for the intros.

As for Naruto, it is in a slump right now video-wise, but

that just means that new watchers have more time to

catch up ;D.

Some key points to check out include, well first 70

episodes ... To narrow it down, The first major fight

(with Zabuza) was enough to hook me for life, and

the battle on the bridge was very emotional.

The Gaara/Rock Lee battle is widely considered the

best, followed closely by the climatic battle (I won't

spoil) that ended the first part of the series (in the

manga). Writing this now, I'm realising it's impossible to name all key parts. Just don't judge the series by the negative attention it's getting now because of the fillers.

Physics midterm tomorrow.
goodball, ya'll...
er, g'night, m'tights.
one more try.
G'bye guys!

You mean a return?

Ahaha.

God, I know this isn't about 157, but 156's animation made me want to BLEED THROUGH THE EYES. And then put the blood in an eye dropper, and try to return the blood to my eye. However, 157 was alright - good animation, good battle, and the filler is now OVER.

Yay for another six months of filler, though! Lets all go drink pine-sol! Orange flavored, please.
