I heard rumors that Toho was hesitant about giving over the rights to any other monsters.
Maybe in the sequel we'll see some of the classics if the film does well enough to warrant one.
I know form other fans that Ghidorah is a favorite for a possible second movie. I wonder how that would work with the kind of tone they seem to be going for.

The Japanese (like many of use in the west) have often voiced their very negative opinions of the 1998 Godzilla movie, Toho even went as far as buying the 98 monster and renaming it Zilla. Then quickly having the real Godzilla kill it in one of the most one sided monster fights I've ever seen.

Anyways, I can imagine that Toho was a little wary of this movie at first because of what happened the last time some westerner made a movie with their most beloved monsters as the title.
But lately the Japanese seem to be embracing this movie a lot more.
There's even a Japanese Godzilla trailer for this movie that proudly features Akira Ifukube's original music, Godzilla's main theme.

Every time I hear that classic score kick in at the end I get a little chill. Akira Ifukube's music just invokes such power for the creature:

So I saw Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and... wow.
That was a really bad adaptation. I mean, so many plot points were changed. I cringed a bit in some moments. Even the first one was more faithful that the 2nd. Jesus...
I'm scared about the 3rd (yes, there's a 3rd and probably going up to a 5th since it's a 5-book series).

Ehhh some-what. I give it a 5/10, for having some bad CGI moments, kinda bad character development, and.. yeah.

I thoughout the 1st one was an 'eh'. Didn't like it neither, but was better than the 2nd. It was a bit more faithful than the 2nd. 6/10

There were a lot of cheese moments in both of those movies too, from what I remember. Took my daughter to see the second one.

Has she read the books? I'm a fan of 'em, and I was dissapointed on how they were adapted.
But, like all adaptations, their not perfecttly faithful... but the 2nd did a bad job at it.

Lol, if only she could read at this point. She's only 19 months old right now, so just getting her to sit still while watching is an accomplishment, which she actually did for that movie.

Bahaha I thought she would be around 6 years old.

But yeah, the movie had a lot of coincidences, and cringing moments. Won't see it for a while...

Anywho, anyone got movies they cringe watching? Mines is Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny. For some reason, I liked it when I saw it the first time... when I was in middle school.

Dangerous lives of alter boys was absolutely terrible. When I started watching it, I kept saying "it's gonna get better, it's gonna get better." Going through all the slow pacing and sequences of the main characters drinking, smoking, and reading comics, that have nothing to do with the story, I kept saying "it's gonna get better". I ended up watching the entire thing, every over-dramatic, drudged out moment, and as the credits rolled it hit me: I just wasted over an hour and a half of my life that I'll never get back

So just got back from Capn America 2. Definitely the best of the Avengers movies so far and I loved the ending clip as well. Also, every single time I see that Godzilla trailer in theatres it gives me chills.

Ohhh man, same. That Godzilla movie... cannot wait.

I liked Captain America 2 too. Although The Avengers is still #1 on my favorite Avengers-related films (with Iron Man 2nd) this is one is in my favorites (maybe in 4th or 3rd).
The 1st post-credit scene was interesting, as we get to see both Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch. Though, I am wondering how QS is gonna play out in the next Avengers movie while he is going to be in X-Men: Days of Future Past... this'll be interesting to see.

I was surprised to see them. I thought Avengers and X-Men didn't crossover often.

They aren't crossovers. Basically the rights are in a way that both studios can use the characters and they're just going to do their own thing with them.

Same here. Pretty sure it's actually the first time they've done it in the films. But it's all Marvel, so technically there's nothing wrong with them doing it. I'm interested to see where they take it though. Will Magneto show up to save his kids?

Just to clarify, I meant a crossover in their series overall, not the films.

The Marvel universe is pretty intertwined, so crossovers aren't really uncommon.    But yeah, it's rare that the Avengers and X-Men collide, at least to my knowledge.

Not that everyone would be interested, but I've watched Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Returns vs. Dōbutsu Sentai Go-Busters a little while ago and I really enjoyed it.

Made it about fifteen minutes before I realized I had other things to do. Kendo must be a common subject in Japanese schools for a Phys Ed teacher carrying a shinai to not be weird.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I liked it. I just have some things to do today and didn't want to get too distracted. I may actually finish it when I have the time.

More entertaining than the Americanized ripoff.

True that, that's why I watch the original Japanese version rather then the Americanized ones, the Japanese ones have much better stories and characters then the stereotypes they made here.
