It was ok, I had problems with it though, and I wasn't aware of those flaws ahead of time so they kinda ambushed me. This time I kinda am aware of some things I'm not too happy about, so like I said, I probably won't go unless a bunch of people are.
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

I haven't seen the first Hobbit movie, but I haven't had much hope for it because 1. The Hobbit tonally isn't close to LotR 2. making it a trilogy was an obvious cash grab and flew in the face of what was done with LotR which was distilling the books to a reasonably length high quality movie and then selling the cutoffs later.

Yup, very good points

I'm one hell of a Godzilla nerd (you don't watch anything for more than 20 years and not learn a lot about it) and oh man am I excited for this movie.
It may just be the super hug fan in me, but that trailer is awesome.

Yeah, got chills too. I've been a Godzilla fan for 25 years now, absolutely excited that they stuck to the true image of Godzilla in this one. But definitely need more 'Zilla showing.

Yeah it was a very good trailer. Hopefully they don't come out with anything spoilery as studios are prone to do.

Also American Hustle comes out this weekend. I probably was going to see Hobbit but American Hustle has been receiving pretty much universal acclaim.

Like anime and the like? Yeah, there are a couple of threads in the Bleedman and Ever After Sections. But for movies like toy's Story, here works well. As a bonus, you could get away with talking about it in just about every talk thread. Each section has a generalized discussion thread for the members.

I feel like advertising Godzilla has to be a nightmare, because if you advertise the humans too much people think it will focus on them too much, but you can't show Godzilla off too much.

I saw Don Jon. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Really good exploration of modern relationships, and of guys' relationship with porn and how that translates to actual women and the expectations women have of men as well. I just wish this one character was developed more, but otherwise the movie is a quick 90 minutes. A very solid outing for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut.

Also if you know what my avatar's from, Orphan Black is also a very good show. I've not seen too much chatter about it but it's definitely one of the great new shows of 2013. I would say you shouldn't look up the show before watching it. Give it 3 episodes and if you aren't hooked you hate TV. It has sci-fi elements and themes.

Mad-Mutt wrote:I went to go see Pacific Rim and for the first time in a while I had fun in a movie. I was not bored throughout the whole thing. I even liked Charlie from Sunny in Philadelphia (I don't know his real name) as that goof ball scientist. I think he was even my favorite character. There wasn't one character I didn't like in the whole movie. Even the asshole guy become a lot less of an asshole at some point.

The movie was just what it needed to be and I was thankful for that. Del Toro is one of my favorite directors and he has never made a single bad movie in my eyes.

I grew up watching these kind of movies. I've seen maybe every Godzilla movie and I've seen my share of Anime. I'm actually happy this movie was made and it had a director who knew what the fuck he was doing and a budget it needed.

Some people might say that some things in it was silly, but this is the Kaiju and the giant robot genre. Its fun stuff like this is why we watched it.

If I were to sum up the overarching plot of Godzilla vs Biollante, Godzilla vs King Ghidora, and Godzilla vs Space Godzilla (and yes those movies do tie into each other) everything else might seem normal to you.

The people might not like it are people who don't like giant robots and monsters and if they don't like that why would they go see it anyways... unless they just like to bitch about movies they don't like.

But I was finally having fun in the movie theater again and I'm glad I saw this movie

I loved Pacific Rim, it was a very good nod to Super-Sentai and giant-monster movies don't you think?

Well, I guess that makes sense of why I thought of you during that movie.

I have some issues with Pacific Rim, but it was a decent monster bash.
