it is a snorefest, but you know what matters at the end of the game. Who has a W and who has an L. History doesn't remember the losers.

Not necessarily true about not remembering the loser, not for soccer anyway, haha. But I get what you're saying

EVERYONE remembers the Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills.

And Scott "Wide Right" Norwood.

I was in a house where the only people rooting for the Netherlands were my norwegian friend, the little brother of another friend, and myself. The other 7 people were rooting for Spain [but in reality only 3 of them were truly rooting for Spain, the other 4 were LITERALLY trolling me and couldn't care less].

So yeah, Uruguay v Germany should have been the final. Brazil will get a new technical director for the next world cup, but we'll see how good whoever the brazilian futbol federation chooses is in whatever cup we have in the Americas.

Yes, I remember that. But the Giants were WINNERS.

The Vikings in general were four-time Super Bowl losers. So were the Bills.

And from the Bills I seguewayed to Scott Norwood, who was indeed in the Giants/Bills Super Bowl XXV (I'm a Giants fan, I KNOW this).

Oh right I thought you were talking about that specific super bowl and that year the Giants were a defensive machine. The Vikings have always just seamed to screw things up. They were always a little short.

I'm a Denver fan so I have not had much to cheer about in the last couple of years.

Man those were good Super Bowls. I missed so much school during those two years because of the playoffs and post playoff parties.

4 years baby we can ignore FIFA for 4 more years, 4 more years.

Although I do catch the Premier league in the bars I frequent.

I maintain that Spain was the best team of this Cup. They were the most organized. Like Zeph said, defense wins games and the most entertaining team to watch, is not automatically who should be the winners. It's not Wrestling.

I wouldn't really compare Superbowl to the FIFA World Cup. The Champions League final is more the European football/soccer equivalent of the Superbowl, it's played annually, played by private clubs which "represent" cities and huge amounts of money are at stake, So they are really similar.

The World Cup, is more like the Olympic Games, played every 4 years and winning is more about the prestige and fame than about money.

Fixed. And yes I'm aware they weren't doing well lately, but as a true fan one needs to remain loyal even if your team is going through a rough time.

and this is what is wrong with sports today
fuck contests of skill, endurance, technique and conditioning, it should be awarded to the flashiest team
the more bicycle kicks hit, the better

Wasn't quite comparing the two contests (given that the World Cup is far more popular), just making a note about how 'no one remembers the losers' isn't quite true if the losers failed in a spectacular fashion.
