run scandisk (fat file system) or chkdisk for ntfs filesystem. They are both utilities already installed on windows so google how to run them for more information. After that get a program called spinrite (if you are prone to piracy go pirate away) and see if you can fix it with that.

I'm concerned that I screwed it up physically? Nothing of that sort right?

maybe, That's what your checking, generally if it is fucked up physically it makes a clicking sound, but not always. Could be other things, a corrupt boot record, a fucked up partition, windows being a bitch. Or it could be dieing and you should start backing up your porn and mp3s. I need more information so get to scanning.

For some obnoxious reason, sometimes when I close and open my laptop, my clock falls behind one hour. It's on the proper time zone and it's not the end of daylight saving time. When I adjust it, the program won't allow me to apply the setting. It sticks until the next time it decides to change back.

Sounds like a really annoying system bug. But don't take my word for it; the trouble might be within your system settings

depends, I don't know what version of your bios your using, usually delete or escape or f10 during boot will give you access, usually it tells you. And system clock, or bios clock is what you are going to look for. Since there is a different bios for almost every motherboard I can't be more specific, still it shouldn't be too hard to find. Generally they have a pretty intuitive layout.

Be excite lily, be super excite.

okay so I'm having an internet problem. my step dad did something with the router where you have to plug in your comp's mac number into the router or whatever in order to allow that computer on the network. thing is, he put in my mac number and I still can't connect on my laptop. my mom's connects just fine. any ideas? it's a linksys. and now it inexplicably works, never mind.

I want it to run games without it locking up on me constantly.

well then for cost purposes depending on exactly what you want on your laptop and brand look to spend between 500 and 800. Make sure the laptop has a dedicated graphics card, but minecraft runs on most systems, you might want to google minecraft plus whatever graphics card is associated with it to make sure there isn't a problem, generally any of the ATI mobility gfx cards or Nvidia GT, GTS or GTX mobility gfx cards will be addequite to play minecraft.

Mkay. It's time to start tucking money away for my boy's Christmas present, and I need to have a savings plan. What is a reasonable price for a desktop that will run Starcraft 2 on settings that actually look good?

Complete tower, or components?

Note: I can plug crap into ports, but I have no soldering capability, nor do I know anyone who does have a soldering iron.

Either or. Generally you don't have to solder to build a computer but it takes time to build and patients especially if a part or two comes in bad and needs to be warrantied, however my brother got a good deal on a complete tower last black friday,

Something like this would do good, but I would go with a more powerful gfx card, hence troll the black friday specials.

Also keep in mind that this is not top of the line, but I assume your looking for most bang for the buck, not buying the hottest sexiest computer.
