I blame America's weirdness on it's diverse cultural background. Also the extreme abundance of idiots.

On the subject of bacon, that would seem to mean we're probably the ones who have it right. I don't know the difference between our bacon and everyone elses, but I do know if you didn't make it yourself it's going to be nasty. Restaurant/fast-food bacon blows.

Speaking of fast-food, I never wanna eat it again.
I had White Castle for the first time Sunday and...ugh.

Why is streaky bacon so popular in America when there's delicious back bacon to be had.

We tend to be backwards about a few things. Like refusing to switch to metric.

I don't even understand metric. I tried so fucking hard to learn it, and it's just beyond me.

1 -> 10 -> 100, etc.

1 millimetre is the smallest unit. 10 millimetres in a centimetre. 100 Centimetres in a metre. 1000 metres in a kilometre. Weight is 1000 milligrams to 1 gram, 1000 grams to a kilogram.

The entire system is based on tens. It makes a lot more sense than 12 inches to 1 foot and all that. Mathematically, anyway.

Smoked bacon just sounds better, but I've never tried the other.

@Octo:
You can't associate metric it only because you don't use it. Driving speed is a good example. You're used to going, say, 60mph, but if the road-sign were to say 100kpm, you'd just put your needle to 100. Kilometers are close enough to miles, and meters to yards that conversion really be that big of a deal. It will never happen though, just like something as retarded as an old, shitty house going up in value will never stop and cities will continue to rot from the inside.

And I had no idea the UK used anything other than metric. That blows.

We use millimetres and centimetres and such, but use miles and feet also.

I dunno the best bacon I've ever eaten was right after a pig was butchered by my uncle he just threw some bacon on the pan and fried it up. It was great. Fresh eggs and bacon and all I had to do was not be in the way.

1 inch = roughly 2.5cm
1 pound is 545grams
One ounce is 28.4g or so.

1 teaspoon is 5mL (I think).
1 tablespoon is 15mL (?).

1 cup is 250mL

300F is roughly 150C.

That's what I know off the top of my head for cooking... others I have to check.

I would just like to say that the motor on our air conditioner unit is busted. They ordered the part and said they'll replace it this afternoon, or no later than tomorrow morning.

I would also like to add, that it is fucking 90 degrees F in fucking April.

I know! Monday was so blistering hot. I turned all the fans in the house and it was still hot. There was no escaping the heat.

We got nice 50 degree + rain here in New York.
My favorite kind of weather. Wish we had this all year.
