I was just referring to the comic itself, not the author. I never spoke with him myself, and personally I think that getting to his level in such a short time would cause a few delusions of grandeur here and there.

and Halo, if we weren't bitching about 8BT we'd be bitching about PvP, so it's still a "bitch about popular webcomics" thread.

Whether he gives them away for free or not is non-issue in terms of legal liability.

If I give away pirated software for free, its just as easy to charge and convict me of pirating software.

Even if Square somehow found out about him they wouldn't bother to go after him, its bad business. Why spend 10's of thousands of dollars if not more, on legal fees to sue someone who has few assets to claim in damages?

I've never even seen PVP, and I don't really care to.

1.) Nix you're totally right and you should put something to the effect of "Can't touch me bushy" on your site.

2.) Halo: He gives a sprite made wall paper to donators on top of the fact you dont have to make profit.

3.) PVP? I've only read a few. I head the author can be an ass sometimes but...I've just never checked it out.

People seem to say EVERYONE who has a big comic is an ass, though.

I have only ever talked with Furious of MC as far as major comics go, but I thought he was really nice so I don't believe what I hear all the time when it comes to that stuff.

Nice people with big comics (Some of these comics have died):

gabe and tycho (though some disagree)
Tokumei (guy who used to do River City High)
Scott (I consider his comic big)
Ian of Mac Hall (Only talked briefly through email)
Ian of RPG World (Even though I'm not keen on the comic Ians as nice as can be)

Both Ians definately come across as being really kewl guys.

Dave/Furious is nice, but he's usually busy most of the time, so conversations can be a tad short. Stop by the forums sometime... I promise not to edit your posts to say, "I love the cock!" And if you do stop by, pimp your comic in the Tech forum.

Gabe/Mike I've sort of had dealings with, I think he's a tad stuck up and thinks he's god. Tycho/Jerry seems okay, though.
