I didn't make up a single name in the "good version" of street fighter. They are all versions of Street fighters that marginally improved upon the original (usually Street Fighter II). And all of them came out about six months apart from each other or less back in the SNES days. It's always been one of my pet peeves when a company will release a game and then release a special edition of the same game later. Ir really screws over your hardcore original fans who supported your game to begin with. I just hope that with the advent of Xbox Live the new editions of Street Fighter will be downloadable add ons rather than a whole new game to buy. We'll see.
Also it's GREAT to be making comics again. Seriously great. So glad conventions are over for a bit.
Snafu-Comics will be at booth 1349 in San Francisco's WonderCon this weekend Friday-Sunday. This will be my last con for a little while and I'm planning on resuming Snafu and Tin as soon as I get back from the journey. At least that's the plan.
Well I'm sure most of you noticed the server down time yesterday. We were moving to a new server. Basically the same stats as the old server with an updated OS and a motherboard that isn't completely broken. So that's what was happening with that. Ryan by the way is the greatest human ever EVER. He totally saved Snafu's but with the server switch which is like the millionth time he's came to the rescue when server problems arise. Oh and yeah Nick that's why the comic didn't appear was the server troubles.
And then Non Con news. I'll be attending Non Con today in Poughkeepsie New York. I'll have a brand new Kingdom Hearts print from Bleedman, a new Watchman shirt which is hella awesome, and the new Gears of War shirt we had at New York Comic Con... plus our older merch of course. So if you get a chance stop by and say hello. And incase you're on the west side of the continent I'll be attending WonderCon in San Francisco next weekend. I'll be there with Kroze from Yugioh Abridged and Felicia Day (codex) from The Guild. All at the same corner booth. Should be rad.
Well I watched Friday the 13th last night (it SUCKED by the way) and the only good thing about the whole movie was the preview for 9. Which apparently is based on this short animation.
It's totally Little Big Planet mixed with Awesome. It seems a bit odd that Tim Burten is directing the actual movie when clearly the guy who did this short can do just fine by himself. But I guess he's not a "name" so actual talent doesn't matter when faced with a for sure sale.
For some reason, for anyone that was seeing my comics in the update section, the Ones I post come out without a title. I don't want you guys to think that it's the same page all the time. I had placed the first chapter of the comic up already but I had it for to update on different days. Seems like the process isn't working. I'll ask dave about it just, so you guys know that those are new pages.
Well I'm flying out to NYCC in a few hours so if you're around stop by the booth and say Hi to Alex and I. We'll be in booth number 1709 which is directly accross from the Funimation booth. Should be fun. I'll have two new prints from a comic that's coming to snafu soon. You'll have to come to find out what it is. Oh and I'll have a brand new t-shirt that I designed. By FAR the best design I've ever done. And lastly Kroze from Yugioh Abridged will have some shirts at the booth as well. So if you love you some Yugioh come by the booth :)
And lastly I've got the convention list updated for 2009 for the time being. This month I'll literally be home for 8 days total. I don't know when the business side of Snafu became a mega time drain of ultimate proportions. But I promise I'll actually be a comic maker again soon. I'm getting really really sick of not being a cartoonist. I've got to be creative soon or someone will die.
Well I'm off ot L.A. for a convention with Ramsoomair. I'm not actually going to be displaying anything just going to be social and what not.
Oh and I just shrunk my second favorite sweeter in the wash/dryer. Which is awesome because I shrunk my favorite sweeter last year. So basically the only solution at this point is cutting off two to three inches from my arms. I don't want to do it, but facts is facts.
Well Christmas has been pretty good. I was warned on Christmas Eve by my little nephew that Santa won't be giving me any presents because I didn't keep my room clean. I was pretty worried but the next day and a new pair of pants and sweater later I figured I had beat the system. Although getting a new sweater I'm not sure if Santa is aware I live in California now. Guess he missed that memo.
Hey sorry about not getting the new Bunnywith's up I've been SUPER busy with the holiday/car break down/work/private stuffs. But as soon as Christmas is over I should have a bit of free time and I'll get them all uploaded then. It's not Alex's fault he has em done it's my fault for being lame.
Well first off sorry I've been so scarce on here. I've been working my ASS off with the holiday season rush. Literally all day everyday. Which is a great problem to have I assure you.
But with that aside my car completely completely died on me today. It's dead, and abandoned somewhere in Fresno. Not entirely sure what I'm going to do about it. But in the meantime, I'm grounded I guess.
Oh and I should hopefully be done with the bulk of my work by Tuesday so hopefully I'll have time to pop in by then.
Shaun Healey aka Endling author of Ever After and all around rad guy has contracted a rare disease. The quick and dirty is he needs our support. The sooner we can help Endling out the sooner he can return to a completely normal life. In my opinion charity is by FAR the greatest thing about the Holidays and it's a rare oportunity to see a Charity directly help out a close personal friend like this. I'd personally GREATLY appreciate any help you can give to Endling. So to make this a lot easier to help out We've set up two really easy ways to offer support.
Every single item sold at Shark Robot will go towards a donation to Endling to be given to him on the 26th the Day after Christmas. Or if you'd like to help him out SUPER directly you can buy Endling's shirt and print :)
Number Two: You can make a direct donation to Endling through PayPal. Endling's PayPal is endrealm@yahoo.com
Snafu fans are the greatest people on earth and I know we won't let Endling down in his time of need. Let's end this year in the true spirt of the holiday season by helping a friend. God bless all of you. You are the BEST!
We'll I'm back from Canada. And I've caught a wicked awful Canadian Cold. Not that the cold virus is exclusively Canadian but I'm blaming Canada anyways. And it just sounds so much more brutal being a Canadian Cold rather than a California Cold.
But yeah no new comic series this Monday cuz I'm a Sicky Guy. Instead I think I'll work on my comic. That would be nice. I do so miss it.
Well I'm off to Canada for a week to pick up a bunch of shirts for Shark Robot. ZeStuff and Shark Robot are going through a semi merger of sorts and I have to go pick up their inventory and bring it to Shark Robot.
But for a lil preview of what's to come :) We'll be having more stuff added as soon as I get back as well. But I probably won't make it back till like Thursday it's looking. I have to deal with getting over 2,000 pieces of merchandise across the Canadian/American border so we'll see how well my customs nightmare works out. Wish me luck and no international incidents.
And finally I know I've said this before that I'll have time to work on Snafu and Tin and I really thought I was going to have time then this ZeStuff... Stuff happened and got me swamped again. But once I've got all the inventory over here and processed I should have time to be a comic artist again. I have so missed it. Very VERY much.
So the new Xbox Live came out today along with it came it's Mii type Avatars. On a lot of levels it looked like I would really like it. They were substantially move advanced than Mii's and had more options like accessories etc.
But then actually making the avatar I absolutely hate them. They are missing some major major options that make the avatars truely customizable on the same levels as the Mii. For instance t-shirts. Why I couldn't pick any color t-shirt I wanted. Fucking retarded. mouths. They don't have anything even resembling a frown. Their angry face is a complete neutral line. The Eyes and Eyebrows were decent designs but with the Mii you can change their size, spacing, how high or low they are on the face. You can come up with some really original neat things with Mii's that you just can't with Xbox Avatars. The Xbox Avatars felt like doing an avatar for a bad online game with zero creativity or actual customization. and Hats. Fuck their hats. Completely stupid and not being able to pick a color is ridiculous.
So yeah I'm disappointed with the Avatars big time. I know they must be planning on selling avatar accessory packs and things which will make them a bunch of money but as of now. I'm not impressed. The actual ability to express originality and creativity is next to zero. It's not uncommon to find a Batman or Star Fox or Terminator, or whatever type of Mii that people can pull off. You can't pull that off with the Xbox Avatars unless they let you download the "batman" face later with an outfit. Miis win this round Microsoft, They win this round HARD.
It always surprises me that a company like Microsoft who is obviously trying to steel the good idea from Nintendo's Miis can't do it right. They had far longer to figure it out, AND they had Mii's to learn from yet they completely miss the point of what made Mii's so great in the first place. And I'm not saying Mii's are perfect. Far from. Nintendo needs to add a LOT. But at least people can be creative with them.
Ironically I just barely started watching Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Anyhow I saw this trailer today and it just look sweet. I never watched the original Star Trek series and I don't plan to but what really caught my eye on this trailer was Syler from Heros and Harold from Harold and Kumar. I realize the actors have real names but I don't honestly care.
It's office humor done right. Think Dilbert that doesn't suck.
We have a few more comic series still on the way and I'm working really hard still getting everything together. I'm sorry on my own personal comics slow updating. But I have to backend so new artists can start updating on Snafu regularly. Expect some more big announcements soon.
So I've spent ALL DAY uploading new products and things to Shark Robot. Expect an annoucement soon of their arrival. I guess technically most of them are already up if you want to go search around THE STORE. But I should have a better more detailed annoucement of products tomorrow sometime. And hopefully a comic FINALLY from me. Hopefully.
I just found my Table Pen after a week of unpacking I FINALLY have it! FINALLY. I was a little paniced there for a second but then I realized where I packed it away at. So finally Snafu can be worked on again. (the comic not the site... although the site will still be worked on)
K so I'm still fighting with one lil tiny bug with the updating system. I think Ty Ty is close though. Real close. Regardless today I plan to get the passwords for the other Snafu artists and as soon as I find my Tablet pen (still packed away in the moving boxes 3 more to go...) I'll make a Snafu comic as well. I tried unpacking all day I can't believe my luck that none of the boxes I've unpacked so far had my tablet pen in it. Ridiculous.
Also I'm not going to update with the new comic series for a few days. I've got to add some new products to Shark Robot today too. It should be a busy day for sure. But productive. Oh so productive.
OK so the Snafubot bug seems to be fixed (thanks TY TY!) So I can get back to work on the site. For awhile there posting comics and news was out of the question while we fixed that bug. I'm going to wait till tomorrow to make sure the auto updating feature in the future works and if that tests alright then I'll start adding the new series of comcics again... And a new Tin comic as promised. Just want to make sure the site won't explode first.
Oh and it was strangely good timing for it to explode. I know sounds weird when is it EVER good timing to explode. But I somehow managed to fuck my neck up really bad while moving and I was basically crippled for two days. and now I get to go to the Chiropracter every day for awhile. The X-Rays were PRETTY...
Anyhoo I was forbidden from a computer for awhile and honestly I knew I couldn't support my own head that well anyways. It was weird I could only look to the right for that first day. But yeah my neck is all sortsa weird. But I'm off to my third Chiropracter apointment in about 15 minutes so hopefully this'll fix things enough I can start pretending nothing's wrong again. Either way I'm going back to work on the site rather the doctor wants me to or not. I miss making comics. I miss making comics a LOT.
Actually we're having small technical difficulties with the Snafubot in the forums. So before I release the new series I want that taken care of. Shouldn't be too long I expect we should launch it Tuesday still. But already today there is a new color Bunnywith, new Brain Dead, and a new Power Puff Girls. So not a bad day even without the new new series of comics released... but yeah like I said this shouldn't take too long to fix. It's one of those things where we tried to fix one problem and found eight more. Lovely. Oh and I'm making a new Tin this Thursday no matter what. I'm sick of working on the site and no comics. It hurts David.
APE was a total blast to walk around. It was our first time driving to San Francisco from Fresno and we definitely went the slowest way possible. It didn't help that it was raining like crazy and there were two huge wrecks along the way. Pretty crazy. But the first day we got there right as it was closing down. Kinda sad but oh well. I truthfully wanted to walk around and see everything on the first day so I could get home Sunday and work on Snafu a bit. But since we got there so late we decided to stay overnight and go back to APE. Saturday night we went and saw two art galleries. The first one Alex Pardee of Bunnywith Fame was participating in. It was called Crom and it was based around Conan the Barbarian (not the Comedian. Although similar) It was pretty rad. I got introduced to a bunch of really great artists there but honestly it was all such a whirl I can barely remember much about it besides it was neat. The 2nd art show we went to was a comic art show for Isotope. It was held in a pretty cool comic shop and had a bunch of toilet seats that were drawn on by comic...ers. I thought it was a neat idea.
Anyhow the next day I got to walk around APE and see the artists exhibiting. There was a LOT of crazy good talent there like seriously amazing. I knew a few people there personally like Alex Pardee of course but also Spike (Angela Melick) from Wasted Talent, Sam Logan from Sam and Fuzzy, Jennie Breeden from the Devil's Panties, and Jeph Jacques and his wife Christi from Questionable Content were there as well. Although I didn't get a chance to say hi or bye to Jeph he was busy talking to peoples the whole time and I didn't want to be rude... which now in retrospect I think may have come off as super rude... oops. And I think his wife Christi (who's rad as all RAD) I'm pretty sure thought I thought she was the Devil's Panties author. So I think I might have came off as a total douche to the Question Content people in general. Not the first time I've been social awkward and I can assure the world it won't be the last. So Dr. Pepper is giving everyone in America a Free Dr. Pepper when Guns and Roses releases their new album. So I've found this rad site that has a count down and reminder for your free Dr. Pepper. So that's exciting and here is the site. Get your free Dr Pepper.
Holy crap I just saw the latest episode of Naruto and I don' see why this show is so dead set on making me cry like a baby. I was gushing for entire time. They absolutely nailed it. I don't want to give much away if you're not caught up but bar none this is the most dead on thing I've ever seen about the emotions felt after death. The frustration, the denial, the anger, the helplessness, dealing with other people, avoidance, it was dead on perfect. Even the color saturation in the episode was dead on. Nothing seems bright and happy anymore it was just amazing.
Which sucks. My eyes are still all warm tingly from the tears.
I'd say the only thing that wasn't dead on is after it was all said and done Shikamaru got that chance to make things right... well not right but better. A chance to fix things a bit. A glimmer of hope or a silver lining to the cloud. I feel like real life is much more hopeless in that sense. It makes for a fantastic show/episode but it was the one part where I didn't feel 100% connected to. And thank goodness I doubt anyone could stand watching a show that was years of feeling depressed and frustrated.
Well I spent my first day in Fresno yesterday. My room is still a pile of boxes. I don't know where any of my things are in said boxes and life is a total mess. With that said I think I'm going to like it here. A LOT.
I'm in the process of doing tedious little things right now like getting my car registered in California, getting my Driver License in California, Getting a California Bank, California Insurance, California HEADACHES more like it.
But hopefully the tedious will end soon and I can focus on getting the site back to 100% and get some new comics rolling again. Expect another new comic series Monday again. Actually every Monday for... awhile.
Anyhow so Wasted Talent is by FAR one of my favorite comics ever. I've had a cameo or two in there in the past but usually because I was actually there for the events portrayed (it is an autobiographical comic after all) But this cameo I was completely taken by surprise on and almost missed it. Truthfully I recognized Greg Dean before I realize there was a Dave character there to. I do hope I run into Spike at APE tomorrow. That would be good. I need radness in my life asap and her particular blend will cheer me up big time from the moving stress.
Well New comic series Brain Dead. Done by Nick Krischner. I'll be fully moved to Fresno sometime this week and once I'm settled in expect Snafu/Tin to return.
Along with a new comic series this Monday... again. We have new series for awhile actually. Woot woot!
So it seems all the newspost we've had for this entire month have been deleted... I don't know why. The only thing I can think of that was different today than any other day is I uploaded a Bunnywith comic a day in advance and when it uploaded maybe somehow it fucked with things... But that doesn't make a lot of sense really. I'm VERY confused. So I'll try it again today and see if this post disappears.
