Mario Kart Wii
Dave 4:39 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2008 |
|
I should also mention I got a chance to play Mario Kart for the Wii in New York. It's really fun. I tried online and it worked extremely well. The controls worked fine, granted I used a Game Cube controller rather than a Wiimote but either way it was tight controls with the normal setup. The courses seemed interesting and fun. Although a few felt... old I guess. Almost like reworked Cube levels. The Snow level especially was the valcano mountain level thing from Game Cube. But still it's Mario Kart and it's just fun.
Although I must say it felt ever so slightly slow to me. But online it randomly picks the settings and I don't think I ever played the 150cc speed. Which is a shame. That's probably the problem with that but still I'd like to wait till I try MK Wii at it's fast setting before passing final judgement on it's speed factor. Overall though. It's Mario Kart, it's FUN.

Back!

The convention went awesome! Thanks to everyone who came by the booth and said hi and bought prints and shirts and things. It ranks in the category of most fun con ever to work officially. In no small part due to sharing the booth with such rad peoples as VG Cats and Staccatto. I actually got to walk around the con for a bit which is unusual for me. New York all by itself was an experience and I really feel I cheated myself not staying a few more days and seeing the actual city. But I've decided to do it again next year so I'll do it better next time. Hopefully.
Anyhow yeah I'll try and get a comic up asap and I don't have a convention for a good long while so no excuses for updates ;) Yay! Stuff will get done and the site is going to rock. Thanks so much for everyone's patience but Snafu is back and I hope it'll be better than ever. I got the new Wacom Tablet in the mail right before I left to the convention and I haven't had a chance to touch it yet. But I'll get it setup tomorrow morning and mess around with it as much as I can and hopefully I can figure out how to use the thing and get a fully digital comic up for you guys. I can't wait! And next year I'm sure my plane won't be delayed for an hour because the Pope was leaving at the same time I was. So LAME. They literally shut down the airport for his holiness. I feel that's a bit excessive but whatever politics.
Now on a more non-comic related note I think it's time I piped in on some entertainment I've been partaking of lately.
Horton Hears a Hoo is AWESOME. Fucking loved that movie. Best Dr. Seuss movie EVER. It was just plan fun to watch.
Alvin and the Chipmunks, LAME movie and I knew it would be but when I pick which movie to watch on planes I try and watch things I know I could never in a million years talk my friends into watching with me at home. So yeah Chipmunks lived up to my exact expectations of a really bad bad film, which is sad because David Cross was in it. Although I hate to admit there were a few times when the "munks" were singing when I actually found myself enjoying their high pitched annoying version of the songs. I already apologized to myself for that. The apology was not accepted.
Elizabeth was a fun watch and I really enjoyed it but it ended up being the same "royalty" movie that's ever been made with the "oh I'm royalty I hate that I have to get married I wish I were free". Emo shit really. I think the moral of the story is that you can never be happy and we're all doomed to utter misery no matter how awesome life is. At least that's what I walked away with. But the movie had some great scenes and shots and they made Elizabeth almost otherworldly at points. Fantastic cinematography all around. Liked it a lot.
Juno was a neat movie and I loved the character Juno to death. Having Arrested Development characters is a guaranteed way for me to watch a show and no matter what at least approve of the entertainment.
Now on the less movie side of things I've been getting into some tv shows lately. South Park, The Office, Supernatural are all on our lists of watches at the Snafu house. South Park and The Office is always amazing and I'm blow away by just how good it really is sometimes. The Internets episode blew my mind. Stan's dad just WINS. Supernatural is an odd show for me to love as much as I do. Especially since I despise the two douchebag main characters Sam and Dean. Worst actors ever. But it's kind of a scary show but not really. It's more "fun" scary I guess. Where you never really get super scared but you can feel uneasy at spots. It's a good balance for David. But it doesn't change the fact the show is really bad overall, yet I still enjoy it. A lot. I've only seen Season 1 at this point but I'll keep watching for sure. It's just fun I guess.

NY Comic-con
Dave 4:32 AM Monday, April 14, 2008 |
|
Well I'm in mad stress mode getting ready for NY Comic-con.
Come stop by the booth and please buy a shirt. It's CRAZY expensive and I'd love to break even on this one honestly. I'll be the guy sitting next to these silly fellows. and I heard our booth will be right by the DC Comics booth. Lame.
Oh and last day of the huge huge pre-order on Shark Robot is today. Get the large shirts (and women's shirts) while you can. The 2nd (and 3rd) new Smash Bros print will go on pre-order after New York Comic-con but the Con attendees get first chance at owning the print.

I'm in Ceder City (like 4 hours south of home) at my account friend's place trying to do my taxes and will be for a day or two more. So that's why there wasn't a Tin today. Just a heads up.

Wapsi Square Joins SharkRobot!
Dave 4:12 AM Tuesday, April 8, 2008 |
|
Wapsi Square one of the fabled Blank Label comics has joined Shark Robot They've got a really cool print and t-shirt design up. Check em out!
Expect another t-shirt design out of me within the week and a few more from Staccato as well. Lastly I can't emphasize enough that it's better to order these items on the Pre-Order than after. The Large 16"x20" prints for example are only $12.95 on the pre-order and after the pre-order the'll be $14.95 Get them while they're cheap. Especially this guy.
Also during the pre-order is the only chance to get Girl versions of the shirts printed on Baby Doll American Apparel Tees. The Pre-Order is also the only chance to order up to 4XL sized t-shirts of the new designs.
Basically take advantage of the pre-order while it lasts people. It'll be better for everyone to get it now.
