I LOVE Pac Man Championship Edition on Xbox Live so very very very much it should be illegal. In most states I think it IS illegal. My roommates and I have a whiteboard scoreboard that we compete against each other on. I like how things are going so far.
Although a worthless mexican beat out one of my high scores... Well technically now he's beat out three of my high scores but we'll pretend nothing happened after I took the picture. DAMN YOU MEXI.
Anyhow time for an E for All write up.
First off it was held in the LA convention center. Which was rad.
Although I do have to say that the convention center was significantly larger than E for All needed. E for All felt tiny in such a large convention center and a first year con just doesn't have the pull to fill the place properly. Which is too be expected.
What I didn't expect though was just how empty the convention was when I got there.
That's like a billion free Guitar Hero III kiosks. At the time I was shocked at how empty everything was. I didn't realize until much later that I was allowed in way earlier than the main crowd. I guess I had special media privileges or something. Cool beans. But fortunately for the venders the place got a lot more traffic once it was fully open to the public. Oh and by the way Guitar Hero III was awesome and it's out so you probably already knew that.
But not as awesome as Rock Band.
But then what is?
Oh yeah Smash Brothers is. Smash Bros was by FAR the main attraction of the entire show. Everyday you played they gave you a free t-shirt just for playing. I grabbed a shirt the first two days love em. Which I would have got the other two but I'm retarded and didn't think of the swag. The game itself is absolutely amazing. I was super stoked to see a Metroid as an item. It flew around the stage and randomly brain sucked characters. AWESOME. Dark Link looks amazing with his glowy red evil eyes. Sonic was fun to play and I think he'll be my favorite character to start out with. Pit was cool and all but he didn't click with me like Sonic did. Sonic's alternate costumes were a bit lame though. It was literally try on different jewelry time for the Blue Blur. LAME. I mentioned before that they also made us play with the Wiimotes without the nun-chuck attachment. Awkward. Really awkward. They worked fine and all but they felt so so so so WRONG. I don't see why they insisted on making people try Smash Brothers for the first time ever wtih the most horrible controller for the game possible out of the four controller options. Whatever though it was still fun. Except for the female cheerleaders that were pretending to be Nintendo Reps.
Smash Brothers doesn't need giggly idiots yelling mundane stupid shit into a microphone to be entertaining.
Also at the Nintendo booth they had station setup to play some DS games. Mario Party DS was a highly featured one. So finally the most boring way to play minigames ever is now portable... UGH. Give me Raving Rabids anyday. At least I don't have to watch people roll dice inbetween every single fun minigame. Phantom Hour Glass was there as well but it's out so nothing too special there.
And yet more Nintendo stuff (sorry they had by far the best presentation at the show and the biggest tittles worth playing.) They had row after row of flat screen tv demoing some of their new games. Mario Galaxy was FUN. I was surfing on a Sting Ray, Then I destroyed some giant Bullet Bill shooting monster thing. That was fun. Then I flew around as a Bee for awhile. LOTS of fun. And I did this all two player with some asian dude pointing at things with the 2nd wiimote. I wouldn't want to be player two ever but at least it's way better than just watching. Mario and Sonic go to the Olympics was there as well. It looked fun but I'm a bit tired of party games on the Wii at this point.
Zelda Cross bow Training and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles were the two they demoed that used the new Wii-Gun accessory. REALY rad both of them. I had a lot of fun and the shooting and aiming is spot on awesome... BUT the turning is really awkward and I hope they get that fixed so it feels smooth soon. Because as of now I wish the games were on rails only so I don't have to attempt to turn the screen EVER.
Konami's booth which I have to say is the most creative and visual appealing booth of the show was showcasing primarily MGS4. Not too much to say about that besides the booth was rad though honestly. MGS just isn't my type of game. I can't handle stealth sneaky games at all I just dont' have the patience for it. But what I saw looked radass to say the least.
The only other booth worth mentioning would be the Game Trailer's booth where they had intel lookind rappers singing/rapping and dancing to video game parody songs and things. Kinda neat I suppose.
Then none super impressive booth related E for All had other cool stuff to. There was a vest there for FPS that basically shot air "thumps" into you when you got hit on a FPS. And it worked to tell you if you're getting hit from behind or in front and things. It was REALLY awesome. But honestly I liked getting hit with that kind of feedback. It was like being massaged to death. Fantastic.
Then there were THQ that showed some really cool games and things but nothing I'm super super interested in honestly. Drawn to Life looked neat but meh.
Lots and lots of other stuff was at E for All but I need nap at this point so this we'll have to do for my report. I meet a lot of great people there and overall I can't wait to go again next year.
